I leave 2 tab browsers open.

I set the first one to refresh every ten seconds and then the second one I scroll it done to the bid section.

This is how I "manually" Snipe

Here is the secret:
There is no "winning" and "losing." All there is is "Naming the maximum you are willing to pay for the item." If you do that, you cannot "lose." If someone outbids you, they overpaid. If you don't get outbid, you got a good deal.

Sniping won't do a damn thing for you if someone else is willing to pay more.

ding ding ding ding! Winner!
If f'in ebay would simply go to a format that if there is a bid in the final seconds, they extend the aution by 1 minute, sniping would be eliminated. It'd make the whole thing a lot fairer.

Yes! 7ish years ago, just before Ebay became a major Auction website, I began Bidding at a website that did just that. As long as there was action happening in an Auction, the Auction continued. For the life of me I can't recall what the name of that site was, but it was big back then. After discovering Ebay though and after my bro was told his "Won" Auction was an Out-of-Stock Item(which they were Auctioning again in a week :|) I dropped that site like a bad habit. Did manage to get some good stuff from there though.

If one must "Win" though, Bid High and Bid Often! You'll "Win" everytime! ;) :D

ubid?

You'd think more people would understand this concept...

yeah, you won't necessarily pay what you bid, it depends on how high the others bid.
just bid a few dollars higher than you want to, and with any luck it falls under your max bid by a decent margin. if you really want to win something badly, just use this strategy.. i have before, it works good :p

If I want something, I just use proxy bidding. I bid the highest amount I would pay for an item and leave it at that.

Yes it is called proxy bidding. You put in teh maximum amount you are willing to pay. Your bid automatically goes up by the increment set in the auction everytime someone tries to outbid you, until you have reached your maximum limit.

Was that auctionuniverse maybe? There were a few other auction sites, but I don't remember the names either.

Nope. All I remember is that it was one of the more nicer(polished) Auction sites back then, almost every other Auction site had a Noobish website design, but this one looked very well done.

I also recall that all Auctions were by the Auction Company and not by Users/Members of the site.

Most of what it Sold was Computer/Electronics related, though it did expand out to other products

It at Winner take All, Dutch, and other Types of Auctions. I also recall that all Bidders were listed below the Product pic/desc Frame.
