I'm at work on a very, very big network.. and some of the MODs were throwing me a few messages (making fun of my boredom: Wallball)....

Whats the cmd to return fire? :)

Also, would a typical network setup... with relatively good freedom.. red flag a user sending a message through the internal service?
I think they just guess that agents (me) don't know/care to use these things... Anyhoo...

Thanks.

It said.. From... "dds-rrssr-003" to 28420 (which is my oracle ID..)

Is that enough information to fill out the example you gave me.. ?

I still don't know how to use the info i've been given.. i'm a dolt :)

This is an NT4 box btw, so it does work with NT.. I too am unsure about Win95 though.

NET SEND <computer name> <what you want to say to them>

i just tried on a couple of my systems (XP/98/ME) and

NET SEND [IP address or computer name] text

only worked from XP.

Also, for 95(?), 98, and ME to actually be able to see the incoming message, WINPOPUP has to be running on those systems.
On XP, nothing special has to be done to see them. They appear in one of those annoying alert boxes. :)

Would it come up with an error if it didn't go through? It appears the function went through... but they didn't respond.. I don't think they want me to know it worked :)
