What's the reasoning behind making a super massive submarine?

I'm thinking it's analogous to a sumo size ninja

not that huge

i never realized how much i don't want to be on a sub until now D:

I honestly don't think i'd mind that much, I have gone 15 days without leaving the house before and I didn't really mind it that much. Seems like it'd be comfy, and with a set schedule you'd always have something to focus on and occupy your mind. :|

read the cracked article

the physics in your house are not the same

nor is the oxygen level

How come they don't make drone submarines?

They do. We use them for finding mines, sensors, mapping shallow water areas for other vessels and team insertions, and good ol patroling for divers and other submersibles. More reliable (and replaceable) than dolphins, plus there's that whole 'not needing oxygen' thing. 😉

Anyone who thinks that's a huge sub needs to take a gander at the Typhoon class.

i've read it before, I still don't think i'd care. give me something to do and a bed to sleep in, idgaf. Only downside for me would be the lack of pot.

Drinkers are out of luck too, unless you're on a British boat anyway. Nelson's Blood! Dutch Courage! Huzzah!

Russians pack wine, and I don't think it's possible for Aussie's to head out without a shitload of beer.

Gotta nuke stuff somehow... Once we figure out (or are allowed?) how to do it from orbit, we won't need them.

Western world once again showing the world how to be more peaceful. Leading the way!

"I am not for war, I am for peace. That is why I am for a supreme Navy. The supremacy of the British Navy is the best security for the peace of the world .... If you rub it in both at home and abroad that you are ready for instant war ... and intend to be first in and hit your enemy in the belly and kick him when he is down and boil your prisoners in oil (if you take any) ... and torture his women and children, then people will keep clear of you."

The resistance uses reprogrammed Triple 8's to drive a sub. 😀

Unmanned is a little hard as radio waves don't penetrate water too well unless you hover just under the water. Preset coordinates can be programed and friend or foe (IFF) can ve esatablished and if foe torpedoes launched and counter measures assumed.

I have you beat by a long shot. Never left the house for four years! I was a shut in and played on the computer all night and went to sleep during the day. I had crazy ass cabin fever. Long story short I went to a mental health hospital twice, take meds and am doing better. Been going strong now going on 4 years come July.

the ohio class submarines are the biggest one in the is navy at 560 ft with a displacement of 16,764 tonnes (surfaced). that's a bit more.

the russians have the typhoon class submarines with about twice the displacement of the ohio class subs.

all in all, this sub is small.
