Whats the problem with my blankets?

NuclearNed

Raconteur
Why do blankets constantly move towards your feet during the night? It seems like every night I wake up about a million times to find that my blankets have crept off the foot of the bed, so that they only reach up to my lower chest. I want my blankets near my head, MY HEAD, DAMMIT!!! Every time I wake up I pull them back into position, but in no time they are back down again. What sort of arcane physics are at work here?

i have it happen to me too... my wife says that i kick at them in my sleep....

edit: i don't buy this crap... i know it is the cats.... they are always plotting against me.... i can see it in their eyes

I sleep with nothing more than a bottom sheet and a duvet. This problem doesn't occur, although my wife complains that I steal her share of the covers as the night progresses so may the shift is left to right in my bed instead of top to bottom in the OP's...

Can you sleep with something called a "duvet" and still possess a man card?

If you get a end board for yoru bed, your problem might lessen. I found this happens in my no frame Box Spring + Mattress bed, however, when I visit my parents, I have a full framed bed there, the blankets dont slip downwards as much.

It's a comforter with a cover on it. Give me a manlier name and I will surely use it....

I can't think of any good names, but you might be able to redeem yourself if its made of something cool, like boar skin, or the scalps of your vanquished enemies.

Or the fur skin of a great Kodiak that you killed with only a frying pan.

Do you sleep on your back? I sleep on my stomach and don't experience this problem. On the other hand, I wake up with both my arms completely numb because of no blood circulation.

So 300 thread count cotton stuffed with down doesn't cut it?

What if I say the feathers were ripped from the flesh of a baby blad eagle while I fended off its mother with my free hand?

I sleep almost exclusively on my left side. Once in a blue moon I'll sleep on my stomach, but its rare.

its because you move your legs in your sleep and roll around, which will puch teh sheets down,

i have actually given up useing sheets because they always ended up pushed all the way to the end of the bed in a rolled up tube like shape, and wernt even covering my body

i just use a down comforter now

Did it happen on a high cliff? It makes a difference.

Same here, but on cold nights I'll toss the sheet on top of the comforter and it stays.

I think someone else probably pegged it - my bed doesn't have a endboard (or footboard or whatever else its called). My theory is that miniscule vibrations caused by the slight motion of my wife and myself probably cause the blankets to slowly slide. One odd thing is that only the blankets seem to be affected - my sheets stay in place.
