My computer all of a sudden died on me today!

I have two harddrives. Today, when I turned on my computer, no power was going through the system. I have the antec SX-830 and it tends to shut off the power if there is a lose cable or something. Any how, I unplugged all the cables and plugged them back in with fustrating results.

Finally, one by one with elimination, I found out it was traced to the harddrive. When the power cable is plugged into the Master primary HD AND Slave secondary harddrive, the whole system just doesn't turn on. However, when my Master primary harrdrive, (which I plugged in the power for ONLY and not for the second one), the computer boots up the system and it turns on. Unfortunately i get a error message and says put in boot disk and some other stuff.

I looked into the bio's and under the boot column, it dectects my DVD, burner, floppy, but no harddrive!!!
I took another harddrive from another system and connected it to and the bios saw it. For this reason, I'm ruling out the motherboard.
Can someone tell me what's wrong with the harddrive and if it is both HD's or jus one? Thanx!!!

Here is my system specs jus in case: IDE 30 gig Maxtor and 30 gig Western Digital
Asus a7v133
Antec case sx830

run scandisk on this drive, see if that turns up anything. have you downloaded any files recently that didn't seem to do anything at first?

Definitely check the jumpers on your drives-- check WD and Maxtor's websites for all possible settings... I've worked with drives that needed the jumpers placed sideways, but that wasn't shown on the label, so went online, and... Bingo!

try the drive that isnt working in another system.. make sure its not just some issue with that particular setup .. if it still doesnt work, call up the maker and get an rma.. if you cant get it to detect though you just lost everything on it ;/
