What's the point of running so many computers to do this SETI or RC5 thing?

KU, IMHO the point of running so many to do it is that alone we can do very little - but together we can accomplish ANYTHING!!! The point is teamwork, tackling a monumental task with the assurance that together millions of computers can examine a much bigger piece of a puzzle than one or two alone could ever hope for.
That and the STATS

Well, ku, I am a network admin. I keep them all at work. That is only about 10% of them. I don't have all of them loaded yet. Plus, some that flush to the TACube pproxy.

Afford? No, we recruit/assimilate. Most people only own 1 or 2 or a few. The rest come from friends and work where we have permission to install the rc5 client.
