Before I ask, I just wanted to say I'm too lazy to go looking around for the answer to this so I'm gonna just ask it here:

What's the point of running so many computers to do this SETI or RC5 thing?

besides stats, chicks dig borgs, and you get a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing your helping the #1 HardWare review websitee reclaim its righfull position as #1!

KU, IMHO the point of running so many to do it is that alone we can do very little - but together we can accomplish ANYTHING!!! The point is teamwork, tackling a monumental task with the assurance that together millions of computers can examine a much bigger piece of a puzzle than one or two alone could ever hope for.
That and the STATS

I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but I think you guys forgot to mention stats. I would add a link but I just can't seem to find one at the moment. 😉

😀

IJump,

Funny, I was just over looking at your stats in your own pproxy.😉 I know you have at least ONE link.😀

wow, that's a LOT of computers you got working on this thing ijump... where do keep all these computers?

yeesh, how do u guys afford all those things? i can barely afford one of those haha

i also like those 486's your running dennil

Afford? No, we recruit/assimilate. Most people only own 1 or 2 or a few. The rest come from friends and work where we have permission to install the rc5 client.
