What's the point of TSA locks?

When traveling with firearms, make sure to NOT get TSA approved locks. Regulation clearly says to make sure nobody else has access to the combination or keys after they inspect the firearm and you lock it up.

A lot of airlines like to say to make sure it's tsa approved though.

TSA does not always close all the zippered pockets on soft-sided luggage. Then stuff falls out. Airline pays.

BTW, it's a proven fact that TSA detects NO more contraband than did the pre-TSA minimum wage screeners.

Some of us old-timers remember when there used to be a person at all the exit doors that checked bags against ticket stubs.

They did it in LAX International terminal about a year ago when I flew in. I was totally WTF as I usually fly through SFO and this never happens.
