What's the point of putting bras on the front end of cars if it makes it look like a$$???

OK, I assume that the whole point of putting a black bra on the front of a car is to keep it from getting bug splats and paint chips...but my gawd it uglifies the whole damn car!! My car is a '95 and I have minimal paint chips and I just wash off the bug guts every couple of weeks. Looks much better than that bra crap...

I'm just ranting b/c I saw a silver S2000 today with a black bra on and nearly barfed.

Hmmmm...I have at the most three nicks on the leading edge of my hood...none on the bumper. You have to bend down and get about 5 inches away from the hood to see them...and even then, I've already applied touch up paint to them so you can't tell anyway...

So a few paint chips...or a big ass ugly bra??? Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Heh, it protects the paint on many cars...too well. When you take the bra off after a couple years, there's a "tan line" where the sun has faded out the rest of the hood but the paint under the bra isn't.

Agreed... if I had a nicer car and needed a bra for it, I would go for one of those clear bras. Most car bras look like crap.

Where are you driving that all of these rocks are attacking your car? I've never had a rock chip the paint on the front of my car.

I think it depends on your area. We have lots of gravel roads and gravel shoulders, and my cars have several scratches and chips in the front of the hood and lower facia. I don't care much about the front bumper, it's the chips in the hood that go down to the steel that are bothersome.

Bras are like condoms, things are much better without them, however despite the inconvenience, they serve a great purpose: protection

Some cars have weaker paint. I know that 5th gen maximas are notorious for paint chipping.

You can get clear bras which are hardly noticeable for the most part, and you can wax them. I don't worry about it much, and for the cost of a clear bra I could almost have the front repainted if it was chipped all to hell.
