Because you like mouse lag?

I don't care what you say, I've yet to see a wireless mouse without pointer lag.

Have you used the MX700 or MX1000?

Many thousands of people, including myself, and including reviewers, have never experienced lag.

Just because the reviewer is inept, or a fanboy, doesn't change the technology.

Wireless mouse = 125hz transmission rate. Do the math. 125 cycles a second = 8ms lag.

Period. That's hard physics, and you can't do anything about that.

Wired mouse can do up to 1000hz. 1000 cycles a second = 1ms lag.

So....what were you saying?

I'll take a mouse without lag, kthxbye.
Color me skeptical....

QFT.
I have the MX700 wireless rechargable mouse and the wireless keyboard that goes with it.
I use my mouse for games all the time. I fail to see any lag whatsoever.
I just like a wireless mouse because cord snagging drives me mental.

My favorite pastime is stealing my roommate's mouse. It would be much more difficult if it were wired.

I sometimes like to go sit across the room on the couch and work. A lot of the time, I'll pop a DVD in the computer and go sit on the couch. How do you keep control of the movie, say if the phone calls or something without sitting, like, 1 foot from the desk? Wireless mouse! :p

Heh. I guess I should've said no noticeable lag.

You said it yourself that wired mouses have lag, which is not noticable I guess.

Well then, thousands of users, including reviewers, have never experienced "noticable" lag then.

I used to hate wireless mice until I used an mx700, then I was sold. Then I got an mx1000 and wondered how I ever survived with the 700, because teh 1000 is freaking godlike.

That's ridiculous. how could the 1000 be any better, at all, for daily (non-gaming) use? unless maybe it has better range. is it bluetooth?

isn't the sensor higher resolution?

would you even notice that when you're web surfing, word processing, etc? The accuracy of the mx700 is pretty damn good to begin with. I don't see how improved accuracy, alone, would make the mx1000 "freakin godlike". Either I'm missing something, or skace is exaggerating about the advantages of the mx1000 over the mx700. :p

I went from the MX700 to the MX1000 also.
The tracking feels the same.
Although the first MX700 I got had poor tracking and lag. I RMA'ed it, and the replacement was as good as the MX1000 in terms of tracking and lag.
MX1000 is way better in all other aspects though, including weight, battery life, and ergonomics

Now even I have to admit that wheeled mouses SUCK compared to optical ones...corded or no.

*edit* wow 5 pages or replies and I replied only once or twice heh

(quoted from internet)

USB reports at 125 Hz, always*. (That's how fast the frame frequency is for USB Low-speed, 1.5 Mbps)

PS/2 reports at 40-200 Hz, depending on what your OS sets it to. (Win98SE uses 40, WinXP 100 I think). There are utils to set it if you want.

*Note: The USB 1.1 bus has a raw bus speed of 12MHz, but requires all transfers to fit into 1ms quanta, which translates to a 1 KHz maximum report rate for USB Full-speed (12 Mbps). But, no computer mouse runs at USB Full-speed; they all use USB Low-speed (1.5 Mbps) which uses a 1/8th slower clock, which translates to a 125 Hz maximum report rate.

Reason for wireless mouse:

After getting your butt handed to you yet again during competitive play, you can say,
"the sun was in, err, uhh, the batteries must be getting low in my wireless mouse, and there's a lot of latency with it. Yeah, that's the ticket."

I just got a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 for $12 through the Staples sale. It's nice, althogh it does have a tendency to lag or get cofused for a second every now and then. It is very nice to not have the cord weighing it down and catching on things though.
