What's the point of fast cars these days?

I say we ban any car with more than 200hp. That should be more than enough power to get you wherever you need to go.

Trucks can only have 250hp max and must get a minumum of 20mpg city. That would get rid of all the behemoth vehicles on the road.

lol 200hp my bike had 210...

yeh no thanks I like my 400 hp G35 Coupe..

and a 2013 Cobra is next on my list.

actually they do and they do it a lot..

There is even a chain of Country Clubs for those types of people.
Motorsports Ranch
there is one in Houston as well as Cresson Texas

These are PRIVATE country clubs with world class tracks on them

There are climate controlled garages there and people store anything from Miatas all the way up to Ferraris and Lambos.
Any given day out there you can see Bikes, Mustangs, Vettes, BMWs, and other super high dollar cars being driven HARD.

I've actually ridden a crotch rocket at the motorsport ranch track in Cresson. Words can't describe the fun I had there. Seriously. I saw guys pulling out lambos and Corvettes that looked like they came off the showroom floor out of those garages. They probably represent .001% of the sport car buyers and that's probably stretching it.

Really trucks are about Torque. They don't ave much HP anyway and still suck down gas.

me too I've driven and ridden on both of them. Cresson back in the CMRA days.

MSRH Drove my old 2004 Cobra there several times on Cobra events when they allow us to go.

memberships yes I would agree but as you know they do have events for all the car clubs and bike clubs to come and use the facilities making that number much larger.

Move? Don't get much congestion on the country roads around my house. In fact, they're nice and twisty. Just have to watch when you get into town and the limit goes from 55 to 25. Damn cops set up camp there to make their income.

If so you're doing it wrong

....kind of agree. Pickup trucks attract other people with pickup trucks. :colbert:

Fast cars is kine of like a road.

It's the FREEDOM

I don't drag race people or take the car to top speed on the highway. But every now and then when I go for a drive I do like to floor it/get a little rush.

Just have to be responsible and make sure you don't put others around you in danger.

Speeding can be done safely.

Heck if you look at Germany, some sections of the highway have no speed limit and their accident rates are lower than US.

Don't do it man. G35 is classy and sexy and sophisticated, don't get rid of that for a white trash mustang that everyone and their sister has.

What have you done to yours that you are 400 hp?

Never understood it either. Even a family sedan can go well over the legal speed limit, why do you need something that can go faster? If anything having a fast/ricer car makes you a bigger target.

It would be fun if there was a place I could legally go as fast as my car can, but no such place exists around here. Well there is a cold weather test plant for Toyota but I don't think just anyone can go there. 😛 Been there once to work on their weather station and it's super high security. I never actually saw the track or any of the vehicles. I don't think they run it anymore though, it does not get cold here like it used to.

Status symbol aside, the nice thing of super and hypercars is not the speed in and by itself (or, at least, not on normal streets), but the incredible acceleration, deceleration and general agility of the car. It feels much snappier, much more responsive.

Uh, the point of sports cars isn't really top speed...

I agree. I just drove the 13 and 12 Boss 302's. However, like the G and Z you are setting in a bathtub more or less. Don't like that. Hard to judge the corners of your car and the blind spots in all of these are not fun.

Debating selling my E46 M3 ZCP for a Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track (the 13 model). I drive 2000 miles a month and the M3 is very expensive at that click.
