Okay, I actually found this posted by someone on another message board. Nobody has responded there, so I thought I'd copy and paste it here because I have the same question:

I love the iPods, how you can drag and drop files, the 4 gig storage capacity! However, I don't have a Mac and don't plan on getting a Mac. Can somebody suggest an non-Mac-based mp3 player similar to the iPod?

Actually the iPod comes in 5 and 10 gig flavors. And it's not just and MP3 player. You can store all file types on it. In that sense (it being a small, portable firewire HDD) I don't think it really has a PC counter part. But you can get 3rd party software so the iPod worx w/a PC. Apple is also working on an offical PC version of the software.

Do you know for sure Apple is working on offical PC support for the iPod?

There isn't one. The PC ones use a physically larger drive and I'm told the interface isn't all that great. However, they are cheaper at larger sizes.

It's all over Mac rumor sites, For example. But Apple being Apple they aren't gonna say "yes, we are working on it." They are gonna beat around the bush until it's ready and then present it at a Macworld or something.

EDIT: I know there are bigger MP3 players out there, but AFAIK the iPod is the only one that is Firewire. Who would want to transfer 5, 10, or 20gig of data over USB?!? Plus, the iPod is still the "lotsa storage in a small package" winner. Unofficaly PC iPod software worx good from what I hear. Hit google and I'm sure you can find it.

The Nomad Jukebox 3's support IEEE 1394 and USB 1.1. But they are definetly physically bigger. I still think they are cool though :)

yer right, I read the specs for the 20gig Jukebox, not the Jukebox 3. Personally, I can't see spending $400 on an MP3 player. Having 5 thousand songs at my finger tips just isn't that important to me. But, w/the iPod being able to store any file type it has a bit more functionality, and I can justify buying a $400 firewire HDD that's pocket-size and can also play MP3's. ;)

I believe the Nomad Jukebox 3 can store any file type also. At least my Nomad II can. Too bad it's big :)
