Was just cleaning out some old junk and I came across some pics I took and some scans I made back in 1996 and 1997.

Whats the oldest file you currently have on your computer that you created?

I've formatted and formatted again over the years, changed PCs and hardware.

I think the oldest files I have are from 2004. MAYBE 2003 back when I used to script like mad on IRC. But thats about as old as it gets, unless of course you're talking old school Windows systems files... but those don't count!

I have a book report from January of 1997. It's on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and its about 2/3 of a page, 400 words.

I have some saved games from Sim City 2000. Very old, but I don't have a specific date on them as they've been moved a couple times and have "lost" the dates. Prob around 97-98?

No idea. I have some flash animations saved from 2001.

Of course if I pulled out the 3.5" floppies I'm sure I have school documents from the mid 90s. My dad has documents, tax info and running logs still saved on 5.25" floppies that go back to the early 80s. Not sure if the disks still work though.

edit: Just found a backup of my Windows 3.11 disks on one of my drives. Those files go back to 11/93.

On my current rig, the oldest dates backs to mid '98. Some old doc and image files that get transferred to every new build. I have an old IBM thinkpad stored around that dates back to early 90s but I haven't fired that up in years, although it does still work last time I checked.

The oldest files I have on this machine are old work documents from May 1996.

I have back-up files from college on floppies that go back to 1986/7.

I should have some stuff from the late 90's, but it seems that Windows doesn't always preserve the "date created" and "date modified" fields when I do a reformat and then copy my files back over.

I have a print out of a drawing I did in 1986 in Elementary school. I was about 9 years old and I did it pixel by pixel. It was the death star with the Imperial shuttle flying towards it.

As far as on my computer.....2000. About when I first got my PC. I have tons of stuff. I back it all up and keep transferring it to my new PC's so I always have copies in case something happens.

I'm also in the "old school homework" club circa 1998. I suppose I should delete that crap, but it's so tiny.

I have files still actively in use from 1999 such as MP3s from the original Napster, a few images, and one small application that I actually still use that's dated 1999.

I clean that kind of crap out periodically, and reformat every couple of years at the most, so nothing older than 2-3 years, BUT, I have stuff stored on Zip disks and floppies that goes back into the mid-90's.
