If it weren't for space issues in Hotmail, I'd have a lot older. I can find up to January 10, 1999. If I still had my school account, it would be '95, but I'm sure a lot of you are in the same boat.

I can only find my e-mail back to early 99. I know I had older than that but I might have lost it in a hard drive crash back then. One of the many reasons why I run a raid array and back up to a usb 2.0 hdd.

June 1985. In fact, my old email address of <first name>@mycompany.com still works, even though it's been many years since they switched to <lastname/first initial/middle initial> format. I think it's the only one out of a thousand employees.

When I got my email address, they never imagined more than a handful of us would be using email, so we we given our first names as email addresses. When they switched over to the new format for addresses, they didn't deactivate them until the employee quit.

I've got emails saved from when I was dating my wife (we lived in different cities during the school year). They are dated Fall 1995. I know I have them on a floppy somewhere.

The Internet saves things too ya know ? I get confused when people say they lost their email in a personal hardware crash... when email is usually left on the server... why not leave it be ?

I'll check when I get home but I think I have some of my old Netcom email from as far back as 1992 or 1993.

If I still had my previous ISP account, I used PINE for e-mail "back in the day" (1994 when 150 hours of dialup was $18/mo).

Earliest in any of my current accounts is January 2001. I believe the first e-mail address I ever had was on AOL (sigh) probably in late '94.

it's not as if saving them takes any effort ;) plus, it's neat to be able to go back and look at e-mails that I sent when I was in junior high.

sometimes I cringe at my bad spelling, but it's still a nice trip down memory lane.
