Sounds a little high. Maybe remove the HSF, clean the proc and the heatsink base, reapply thermal compound, and reseat.
I'm running XP 2500 "barton" at stock speed and I'm getting 50c. I HSF is a SLK-800(u) with Smart Case Fan II. The fan on the PSU is also blowing on the cpu. Do you think this is a little high as well? I've been reading various comments and people have been generally getting around 40c (with full load) and under 45c with full load when OCed to 3200+. If I start OCing at the current temp, it'll no doubt start climbing towards 60c which is bad. I want to get it around 40c with my current setup. A friend of mine told me reseat it. Do you think that's a good idea? I've applied some Artic Silver Thermal Compound before installing the HSF. I'm reluctant to reseat because it's kinda a big procedure, but if I must do it, then I will. I also might have NOT applied a THIN enough layer of thermal compound. I dunno.
If I do have to reseat it, I just need to know some things:
I guess the correct way of applying thermal compound and how much I need.
How and with what do I clean the old thermal compound off the cpu and heatsink once I remove it for a reseat.
Detailed answers to these questions would be very helpful or maybe provide a link or two for each.
Thank you in advance for any help!
