What's the next best (healthy) thing to drink besides water?

and what side effects would these be?
Do a search for phenylalanine and phenylketonuric, the later being a condition some people are in. There's usually a red warning label on diet pop for phenylketonurics. Someone in another thread reported sexual side-effects, too, though I'm not sure if he was talking from personal experience. 🙂

Here's a good combination:

8 oz of *unsweetened* 100% cranberry juice from Trader Joe's. Mix in 64 ounces of cold water. Enjoy!! Your body will appreciate you for life!!

Most certainly any kind of fruit juice. Preferrable something somewhat fresh, like Odwalla.

Why don't you like water? Good water should taste almost sweet.. Make sure it's really cold, nearly freezing.

And invest in a PUR Filter, they really do work very well. I can't imagine not having mine. 🙂

Ditto! I always have a bottle full of filtered water in my fridge. We had a brita filter before, and I hated the taste, and it was fscking slow (maybe its a lot better, but still!). 🙂

From Crystal Light website....

Phenylalanine is an amino acid present in aspartame. It is a "building block" of protein and is identical to that found in meat, dairy, vegetables and grains.

The problem with Gatorade, juices, etc. is they tend to have a LOT of calories. From that standpoint they aren't much better for you than soda. They add calories that don't make you feel "full," so you don't reduce other intake to account for them.

Cold, filtered water is actually quite good - If you're drinking water straight from the tap that's probably why you don't like it.

We have a two gallon filter in our refrigerator, there is always good water available.

both big kinds of dietary sugar's are said to cause something bad in the long run. and so are potatoes.. just try to vary it a bit.

and the crystal light lemonade.. bleh. the triopical kiwi/strawberry is pretty good.. at least to me.

thanks for the suggestions!

Personally, I think Crystal Light lemonade is one of the best lemonades available.

hehe ok ok. next time i go to the grocery store i'll try crystal light again. i haven't had it in awhile, maybe i'm confusing it with something else.

as for milk...i heard it's bad for you? i get my vitamin D from orange juice. and as for natural juices..don't most add tons of sugar. which is also bad for you? ahhhhhhh. everything i drink my friends tell me why i shouldn't. they are like WATER WATER WATER.

Don't drink milk. And if you really can't live without it, get organic milk. It doesen't have all the growth hormones and antibiotics they give cows to make them produce more milk, and keep them alive.

Don't drink that Crystal Light garbage either. I would venture to guess that the (healthy) in your title is because you actually are one of the few who care what you ingest. If that's the case, then there is no point in putting some unneeded manmade chemicals into your body. 🙂

Your Orange Juice has Vitamin D in it? :Q Isn't vitamin D really fatty? Most people don't really need Vitamin D. Your body produces it when sunlight hits your skin.

Water really is the best thing. Things like tea are good for you, yes.. but not something you can really drink all the time to rehydrate yourself.

Fruit juices have sugar, yes. but it's natural fructose, not processed white sucrose... When I first mentioned juices, I kinda had the idea of juicing your own.

Any fruit juice is good for you. You have to realize that most people don't get anywhere near the nutrition they should. Fruits are a start, but you really need to eat more vegetables. The greener, the better.

ORANGE JUICE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its good for you, and VERY VERY good.

Get the frozen concentrate and mix up a jug every once in a while. Brands will vary but I like Minute Maid

Don't drink milk. It's not good for you. All the healthy bones propaganda is nothing but a bunch of BS.

Besides, you just want liquid in your system.. not all the fat and calories that come with milk.

Please don't drink milk just for it's calcium content. You can absorb such a small ammount(a few percent) of the calcium in milk that it's not even worth it. If you're concerned about your calcium intake, eat more deep green leafy vegetables.

Even things like cereal aren't worth it if you're looking for calcium. We tend to put tricalcium phosphate into our "enriched" foods, and call it calcium. We're not plants. We don't process and digest chalk. Sorry. lol...

osteoporous (sp?) is very real and its proven that milk stops it.
thankyouverymuch.

yes i get the orange juice that's fortified with Vitamin D. I dunno about vitamin D being fatty but I heard you shouldn't drink milk to get vitamin D for that same reason. But yeah..as eakers said it's actually really important for women to get enough vitamin D and we don't just get enough from the sun.

If your truely thirsty, drinking anything with sugar in it is pretty stupid. If you like the soda type stuff Diet Rite is the best type of soda you can drink, it has NOTHING in it and dose NOT taste like sh*t. Water with lime is the best choice, just try and stay away from the drinks with sugar, they are really bad for you.

The Crystal Light grapefruit flavor is my favorite... it's my favorite "lite" drink by far.
