What's the newest version of aim that doesn't include the stupid Video ads?

I'm on oldversion.com and I'd like to get a newer version but I absolutely can't stand the animated ads. If anyone can help it'd be appreciated 🙂

i just put AOL's ad servers in my hosts file with bogus IPs to prevent the ads from coming up.

any chance you could copy and paste those host entries to here?
 
127.0.0.1 ads.web.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com

i used the loopback IP rather than making up entirely bogus ones, but it still works.
 
do any of these get past the buddy limit. I think it's 150 or 200 buddies. I hate deleting ppl to add new ones.

Also, I'm still using AIM 4.8 w/ AIM+ because it gets rid of everything but the menu and my buddy list, allows me to clone AIM, and automatically records all of my conversations & chatrooms. Do all your suggestions do this as well?
 
I prefer gaim, but for god's sake use *anything* but the official client - that thing is horrible. Miranda and Trillian are two other common alternatives.
