I usually go for Red. I once put about 200 on and won.

There was something similiar that happened in real life. Someone kept track of the winning number for a few hours, and computed out what was most likely to win.

i saw a discovery channel (or something like that) documentary on a group that built a device that measured the ball velocity and gave a range of where the ball was likely to land. since you can bet after the ball has begun to spin, they made out pretty well.

That is rediculous. A truly random roulette wheel is never predictable, just because the last twenty spins all landed on 10, doesn't mean the 21st spin will. However, calculating ball speed and analysing the shape and dynamics of a roulette wheel would work, though. Doubt that a casino would allow you to bring in a contraption to predict roulette wheel spins, though.

And in the long run, with a perfectly random roulette wheel, you will always lose. The casino makes sure of this with the 0 and 00 numbers. Betting on red or black is not a 50% chance of winning, but more like a 45% of Red, 45% chance of black, and 10% chance of 0 or 00. It is always in favour of the casino.
 
I saw a documentary on odds at a casino and of all the games, the house has the biggest advantage in roulette. The documentary went on to say the house has the smallest advantage in blackjack if you count cards. The odds are 51/49 in that case with an advantage to the house.
 
Me and about five friends were playing "progressive roulette" once where we would keep doubling our bet on black until we won, essentially betting alot to win the initial $50 bet or whatever... It ended up bad. We lost about 8 in a row and had about $6k on the table between us, and lost that too. Not a good night 🙁 Someone's plan failed miserably... The board was as red as the blood coming out of our a$$es after they raped us...
