There was something similiar that happened in real life. Someone kept track of the winning number for a few hours, and computed out what was most likely to win.
That is rediculous. A truly random roulette wheel is never predictable, just because the last twenty spins all landed on 10, doesn't mean the 21st spin will. However, calculating ball speed and analysing the shape and dynamics of a roulette wheel would work, though. Doubt that a casino would allow you to bring in a contraption to predict roulette wheel spins, though.
And in the long run, with a perfectly random roulette wheel, you will always lose. The casino makes sure of this with the 0 and 00 numbers. Betting on red or black is not a 50% chance of winning, but more like a 45% of Red, 45% chance of black, and 10% chance of 0 or 00. It is always in favour of the casino.
