I took a graduate class in philosophy and I paid just under $1,100 for the text book -- Acta Philosophorum The First Journal of Philosophy! I bought it used!! Usually it goes for $1,450!
Required class for my PHD!!!

My last hardcover was statistics and I paid $7 at goodwill for it and it even had the cd's in the back. I generally use the electronic books provided by my university though vitalsource bookshelf and if I want a printed copy they're $10 each. My ebooks are $50 each which I can take anywhere or acess from anywhere online with a browser which is the best deal to me.

Amazon has it used from $440. But new, daaamn!

For me it was $125 for a used book. Back in 1984. And if the book was revised we had to buy it again as they would not let us xerox the changes.

Holy crap! £80k year!! Wow and now you are striving for another new challenge. Most people just stay put in your current situation but you are still pinging forward! You Americans are insane... well done Choatic42! 🙂
Your life is pretty much complete imo.

It's been hard. I had a heart attack at work in my 20s (and kept working, it was minor). I didn't have a standard "fun" time when I was younger. It's been very rare for me to have only worked 40 hours with no overtime and/or school. I'm happiest when I'm being productive and I'll probably die at work. I don't party, take drugs, drink (very much), never dated until last year, and have no plans for marriage or children. My lot in life is to get things done and I'm okay with it.

I went seven years without taking a vacation of any kind and in 2003 I had three days off (including holidays and weekends) only because I was so violently ill I couldn't go into work. It's been a weird journey. 😛
