I bought a box of paintings at an antique store that was going out of business. Got 12 painting for $25. Sold them individually, and got a total of ~$800 for them.

do u have to report this income and pay taxes on it?
ive never bought or sold anything on ebay

You're legally obligated to report it under "Other Income", but rarely does it happen. fyi, income from illegal activities also are taxable.

I sold a kotex dispenser for $250. It was in the Ladie's room at the NY Public Library and my Mom took it home.
It sold loose tampons for a nickle and was pretty old. Too bad she didn't take a few more, but it was heavy.

I sold a video camera that I paid $2,100 for $1950 after using it for two years.. That's like renting it for $75 a year - I think that deal worked in my favor 😉

I would buy computer hardware realize I didnt like/want/need it and sell it for more then I paid for it... better then loosing 15% on an RMA!🙂

What camera? Some 3ccd unit I imagine?

Sold some stuff, but, after ebay fees and s&h, and paypal fees it can be tough to make money on std.wholesale stuff. Target has done me well though, as has OD and some of the other coupon-enabled office stores.

My best score was some DVD+RW drives from OD. Bought 3, sold 2 that paid for the 3rd. But that's just luck, couldn't make a living doing that.

Made about $800 in a month or so, selling Diablo 2 equipment, then the hacks came and the values went way down.

i used to get columbia house dvd memberships and sell the dvds on ebay for much more than i paid

How much can you potentially make off this? I was thinking of hiring a 16 year old kid to sit and make 8 columbia house accounts a day once the cycle got going, get the initial 10, buy 3 more at an average of 6 bucks a DVD, and sell them for about 15 each. Make another few bucks by shipping media mail. If he can work 2 hours a day and sell about 8 DVDs a day, that's 40 bucks of profit a day.

i forget, it was a long time ago...when people actually wanted the Armageddon Criterion haha. Columbia is much stricter now, back then i could have signed up without providing a SSN (which means they couldn't be able to find me if i just skipped on payments, not that I would ever hehe) or even a credit card. They were desperate for a subscriber base back then.

If you wanna do it now, it is probably still decent profit.

Sony trv900... I sold it right before the trv950 came out 😉

I forgot about this one- troma (b-movies maker) had a wacky deal where you could order as many DVD movies from their catalog as you'd like for 25 cents plus $2.00 shipping.. So I paid $2.25 each for 20 somewhat dvds.. I sold the collection for $250 plus shipping
