What's the most money you've made on ebay?

I'e been reading about some incredible sales on ebay and I've thinking about trying to get rid of some of my junk. So what stories do you have about selling something you thought was junk for lots of money?

My very first thing i sold on ebay was my first EQ account. Sold it at $1100 to some assistant prof at Berkeley (this was like 3 months after EQ was released).

I find stuff in the "hot deals" forum, then go buy them all (usually target clearance stuff) and then sell them on ebay.

Wow great idea! I have a plan I'm thinking that might work, I wonder if its possible to make a living selling items on ebay.

Depends. I usually make enough $$$ to cover the cost to keep one of the items I bought..such as ipods, printers, etc.

I bought some Kodak digital picture frames as Christmas gifts a while back when they were sold at clearance for $100. I kept a bunch of them in my closet that I hadn't given away.

The next year they were selling for up to $300 on ebay so I got rid of 4 of them for about $250 each.

Another good one was selling my 6 MO Garmin SP3 Deluxe GPS system for only $25 less than what I bought it for.

Same here basically. I have bought stuff for $1 on clearance and sold it for $35 a piece. Ive made over $2000 in less than a month selling clearance stuff I got and I was like 15-16 then. I remember eBay when you could build a top notch computer for $500. In 1995-6 there was hardly anyone on ebay, now you pay near retail. 🙁

I think it's hard to make a living, but it's definitely a good way to pick up some extra cash.

It's not really that hard to make a living (my uncle does it)... you just need to buy things at wholesale (trade shows, etc.). He makes really good money, and the best part is that it's all cash...

Work was throwing out some old fiber cards.

I got 3 huge boxes of them for free and sold them on ebay for approx 4k to a firm in France. They paid shipping and all.

I would say a lot of the people that are making an actual living on ebay (and there are a lot) have access to wholesale prices or own pawn shops in real life.

If you really want to make a living on ebay, get some memberships at some wholesalers and just buy stuff and resell them on ebay. No point in wasting time looking for deals in real life, where the markup would only be about 20% anyways.

Probably the WinTV-D tuner card from JandR.com. I bought it for $50 but found out there were no HDTV signals near me at the time, so I sold it for about $140.

I just started working on ebay. I've gotten a couple of good deals on cell phones, and I sold a refurbished phone I got for free for like $80.00

I guess if you have the extra cash to sit on, you can really do well. I have only been part of 4-5 transactions, and I had one troublesome buyer, one that would never contact me, and another one flake out. Selling one item every once in a while isn't too bad, but it can be alot of hassle.

I'm sure other people have had better experiences. I like buying on eBay though- you really can get some awesome deals.

I sold a 19" LCD monitor that I got for free. I received $750 for the auction. 🙂

[Edit]: No, I didn't steal the monitor either. Just kind of a long complicated story that worked out really well in the end. 🙂
