I once borrowed $2,500 from my uncle.

i forget the exact amount, it was about $1000 IIRC

after I got out of Navy Boot Camp, me and a couple guys wanted to get new motorcycles

the model i wanted was the previous year's model (being discontinued) so the bank viewed it as a used bike, so i had to put a chunk of $ for a down payment. i didn't have it, but my buddy did, he loaned me what i needed, i paid him back over 6-9 months

i think i still owe him a steak dinner as interest 😱
