Hm..........maybe Ulead Videostudio. Regular version is $100, upgrade is much less.
Below that, The Orange Box, $50, and numerous games. Also Goldwave, an audio editor, for $42.

WinXP came "free" from the college's MSNDAA program, or whatever the acronym is.

Ah, wait, Pro/ENGINEER Student Edition. In all, I think I've paid about $200 for that, which included Wildfire 2.0 and 3.0. Of course, WF 4.0 is out now. Oh well. 3.0 shall suffice for now.

Probably some of the embedded development suits on my computer at work. I don't know how much any of them cost though.

On my home computer the most expensive thing is the standard version of Office 2007.

Since you are not breaking down by installation/processor then neither will I. :)

LOL, the thing about it is that my system can be whole contained on a single laptop and deployed to the infrastructure at moment's notice.

Windows XP cost me a few dollars through my university. Everything else is open source or freeware.

The software I develop is pretty pricey though.

This game sucks. Change:

"computer that you own, or is assigned to you"

to

"computer that you own"

Who gives a crap about what work software you have. I can spout company-developed programs that are top secret and that other companies would pay millions for. Who cares?

im about to get in on this as well. i just started back in school, and while i dislike booting into windows (especially since office is the *only* reason i have to do such a thing) its better than OpenOffice, and a couple of my classes require docx :-/

so i figured for 60 bucks i just as well have the damn thing.

That's because I have the same software on my own computer ;)

Office 2007 Professional

I think it costs $200-300 retail, but I got it for free from MS. :)

Shens on the 1.2 Million dollar program.
Imagine a software that lets you reach multiple systems/OS simultaneously and let you access the devices at physical level, then throw in other capabilities such as accessing RAM, and uncover root kits and whack them if need to; then imagine being able to do this anywhere on earth, from any location and scalable to any sized network. Now, since we have the devices at physical level, imagine what ever else we can do with the system, all of this is going on while your production environment is not impacted and you are oblivious of its existence.

Eh?

In an average implementation, one program installed on my laptop is worth $1.2 mil.

And I didn't even include anything else, or WOW :p.

My laptop >>> yours

Edit: Someone complained about rules not being cleared. So the software has to be installed on a computer that you own, or is assigned to you. And that you use it on a daily basis, and on average what an organization would pay for it. The $1.2 figure is not really that much.

"worth" $1.2 mil? You mean it COST that much.

Well, since we develop it and it didn't cost me anything, I'd think worth is appropriate in this sense. And people have paid more

Sir, I am interested in what you have to offer and would like to subscribe to your news letter.

This is sad nerd penis wagging fest by the OP.

So the software on your (or companies) laptop is either worth 2.343 billion, or it could be worth next to nothing, depending on who buys it.

Let me shake your hand for having nothing better to brag about. Wanna trade pics?
