There's been a lot of significant changes the last few weeks.

  • California ends non-medical vaccination exemptions.
  • Pope say protecting the climate from change is a moral imperative.
  • Confederate Flag is removed from state grounds and some retailers.
  • SCOTUS limits some mandatory sentencing.
  • SCOTUS upholds anti-discrimination housing law.
  • SCOTUS upholds the ACA.
  • SCOTUS legalizes same-sex marriage.

Which change do you personally find the worst and why?

For me I think they've all been a blow for equality, fairness, and reason.

Probably the Pope trying to trample all over the corporations rights and freedoms to do what they need to grow their livelihood. I mean come on. The Chinese can still do their Yoga or whatever. Just put a mask on you over entitled lazy bastards.

The best part was the SCOTUS realizing marriage equality. This affects everyone and we don't have to live in fear that a ballot box solution will suddenly cancel marriages like Prop 8. It'll take a constitutional amendment and considering the number of states that have made it legal.. I don't see the amendment getting 2/3rd legislative majorities in 38 states. For all intents and purposes.. Marriage Equality is here to stay.

We've gone in 7 years from the POTUS W. in 2008 saying he wanted a constitutional amendment banning marriage equality to the POTUS B.O. in 2015 hearlding it as equality makes the union even more perfect.

This sort of sea change is unlike anything except maybe the Emancipation Declaration.

BTW they're all politicians.. Obama said in 1996 on a questionaire he was for marriage equality. He just feigned that marriage only for men and women to not alienate voters till the country caught up with his beliefs. It was really Biden who outed him.. like you don't gotta lie anymore bro.

Thank you V.P. Biden!

Perhaps you're even dumb enough to think CO2 caused that.
Why else would you confuse actual pollution and smog with the subject of CO2?

(China smog pics)

The problem here is the globalization of his statement. You see these photos in China and he thinks the whole world should do X while not condemning the very place its happening (China). The people of China have definite health grievances that should be heard and dealt with. That won't happen, and not merely because of corporations, but also due to government complicity. How much more are people willing to appeal to a global mandate if their corporations and government could give two shits about them?

Democrats attacking the south in a feel good campaign based on bigoted hated of an entire people for the actions of a lone gunman. That they essentially mirror the notion of condemning Islam for the actions of terrorists.

More importantly is they gloss over that the flag is flown on a Civil War memorial. It was already removed from above the Capital where it once flew. Instead of "off state grounds" they simply want it banned altogether, as demonstrated by store boycotts and calls to tear down statues of historical figures.

Dems condemn the notion that those things are American. They condemn reconciliation and reconstruction. It is a divisive ideology hell bent of tearing America apart. It is appalling.

Yes, worship the government that denied you the basic human Right to share your love freely only to allow you later. Created a problem to enable them to provide the solution. Perfect business model. You needed poppa government to 'give his approval' before you allowed yourself to feel good about being gay and married. Sorry, that's just silly in my opinion. They never had that Right no matter what they claimed. I guess its kind of a shame to think people needed this from an authority and didn't have it within themselves.

In a city as liberal as NY, police raided gay bars back in the 1960's.

I agree with you they never had that right but it was placed there by hatred of the people like 1910's and 20's, homosexual men not allowed to immigrate into America.. then Immigrant quotas on Chinese and Indians.. we've come a long way from those days.. thankfully.

Better late than never.

Individual citizens may use their first amendment rights to call for the removal of flags and boycott of businesses selling them.

That lone gunman ended up reminding people that the state government of a U.S. state was flying the flag of a failed enemy of the U.S. in a place of honor on state grounds.

Private people and entities have every right to fly or sell that flag. The government can have it displayed in a museum. No one has a right to be free from criticism about it however.

Smoggy with a chance lung cancer.

But hey.. at least they have all those sweet jobs adding lead and formaldehyde to common goods that have never had a need for those ingredients.

A conservative arguing that corporations exercising their freedom to sell or not sell particular items is bigoted hatred.

Probably the TPA being fast tracked. The govt/media/corps really came together wrt all the things on Paratus' list to make an effective smokescreen. I guess all you white collar software/IT types get to look forward to training your H1-B replacements in the coming months.

You just strung words together. They make no sense.

The TPP fast-track is not approval of any agreement with foreign governments. The negotiations are still ongoing and it will still face a Congressional yes/no vote. And as far as I an tell, it also has nothing to do with H1B visas.

Lastly, if you're training your H1B visa replacement, you better be getting on the phone with your representatives and the media. If you've been reading the news lately (yes, it was a front page story on the NYT), Disney and Southern California Edison, in addition to the companies they hired (Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and HCL America)are all facing investigation for using H1-B visa workers to replace American workers.

As far as you can tell, lol. How could you tell anything. Everything regarding the negotiations is secret. I'm sure these guys, not to mention congress, have your best interests at heart, though.

Oh, okay. The law is going to protect you against corporate interests. Are you sure we're living in the same country? Cursory "investigation" followed by a financial slap on the wrist for a fraction of the money they saved.

Opinions change.

I've said things 6 years ago that I don't believe anymore. Why is Obama any different?

I agree opinions change, and I also think when that happens it should be celebrated when done in favor of personal liberty.

But it seems like the entire south is still condemned by most to this day for sins committed hundreds of years ago.

I would wager more blacks and whites coexist with peace and respect in the south more than anywhere else in the U.S.

Yes racism exists but the population numbers seem to suggest this. Hopefully racism altogether can be eradicated within a generation or two.
