How about tin cans and string?

assuming your computers are on a network within the office (you never stated they were)
they all will run netmeeting (totally free). you can set up icons with each persons computer name indicated, and you click on the icon to connect with them. if they have sound cards and a webcam, you can video conference with them. if they don't, you can communicate with text.

my humble advice..use the intercom system on your business phones..
