I think about $250.00 before flying down to Vegas for a hockey tournament so I wouldn't have to use my debit/CC while in Vega$

$9600 after selling my 350Z private party.

I also had a cashier's check for a little over $200k when I went to go close on my house a few months ago.

My dad did a brief stint for the Federal reserve driving armored trucks after he got out of the Navy. Said he carried as much as $17 million in a single bag. This would have been in the 60's.

This is ATOT, I'd be disappointed without claims of $250k or more. And all the bills had pointy elbows
I don't know, if I'd carried around a million dollars or more I don't know that I'd want to brag about it. It would be a pretty hush hush affair.

That'd be a large bag.

1.7 million $100 bills = 2.53 cubic yards or 510.9 gallons.

Though I suppose back in the sixties he could have theoretically been carrying $500s or $1000s or whatever; those were never common (obviously) but weren't completely removed from circulation until the 70s. So, ok.

170,000 $1000 bills = .253 cubic yards or 51.09 gallons. So an extra large trash bag full of Clevelands would have done it.

his dad wouldn't lie!

For me, it was slightly over $32k. It was back when I was a manager at the electronics/appliance store. When tax time came around, we would have massive stacks of cash. It was always a scary ride to the bank, even with 2 people (procedure any time the deposit had over $X cash).

yeah? well my dad carried around 18 million in a single bag! and it was in the 50s!

Cash that was mine, about 80k.

Cash that wasn't mine, about 450k (taking it to deposit in bank at old job).

I used to do $10K or $20K when I lived in Europe. Before the EU moved to the euro I lived in France. The exchange rate for the French franc and dollar used to vary quite a bit so when the franc was high and the dollar low I'd take out a chunk of francs when I went to the US and convert and put in my US account. Vice versa when the dollar was high and the franc low. I just kept it in my briefcase, but I never had the cash for more than a few days.

Made a decent profit flipping currency over the years.

Couple grand back when I worked at the store. Used to do the bank runs. Though people could pay cash, most didn't. Takes longer for the hold to fall of your credit card when you rent a car. So it wasn't a frequent thing.

Nope. 🙂

I'll use debit card or credit card whenever possible.

Never had a job that required me to carry cash between point A and point B.

Neither have I but thats really surprising. How did you make large purchases before you had credit? Checks?
