My answer for both is six figures during the go-go days of internet boom and bust.

I don't play the stock market myself. I let someone else do it for me. So the biggest gain I had was 0 and the biggest loss I had was also 0.

Same. I buy and hold stock index mutual funds for the long term.

I've had many days in the past few months where I've made more than $1000. My best day so far was around $1500.

The more interesting question to ask is what the best PERCENTAGE gain folks have had in a day.

After all, if I were investing $100,000,000, then $1,000 gains in a day aren't really very impressive.

But I play with derivatives, so I make a lot off of much smaller amounts. =)
