What's the minimum size for a picture in order to print a decent 4x6?

I've seen decent prints from a High quality 1MP photo.
I mean, a good print process + a Gd 1 MP photo looks decent.
I'm not talking from a cell phone type camera though.
For the avg home digi cam user, 2MP would be my lower limit. 3MP pretty gd. 4MP and up not easily distinguishable

4x6? hmmm... probably an 800x600 picture, so 1 mp should be adequate.

600 x 900 resolution minimum. I prefer at least 180 - 200 dpi.

well, if you want 150dpi, you'll only need a .5mp camera.

seeing as theres no such thing as a 600DPI printer and the 400DPI ones are high end comercial printers, 2pm will be fine and photo printers run anywhere from 250-360DPI depending on what one it is
