what's the minimum internet connection speed to take advantage of VOIP?

Vonage says something like 96Kbps is needed for its service. I think that latency plays the biggest role in how VOIP will work. If you have stable, low pings, you should be good to go.

That's fvcking ridiculous. You can stream 128kbps MP3s that are near CD quality using, well, 128kbps. Phone quality is significantly less than that.
 
I have 256k up and it works fine, let me know if you want a referal for vonage (gives you a free month and me 2 free months)
