Question What's the minimum clock speed supposed to be on a Intel 11800h?

So I bought a laptop a month ago - an HP Omen with 11800h. It worked fine until last friday. It would have crazy bad lag that would come and go. Even the audio would glitch when this happened. I then ran the HP diagnostics and they had no problem. I then reset windows (11 btw) and that had no effect.

Today I noticed that the clock speed in task manager showed that the cpu would occasionally drop down to 0.18GHz.

How the heck did this happen? I don't think that's right. What's the minimum clock speed this cpi is supposed to have?

This shows 1.9ghz but is that right? https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...1800h-processor-24m-cache-up-to-4-60-ghz.html

1.9GHz is generally the minimum clock speed.

It's probably not 0.18GHz, but duty cycling to be an effective 0.18GHz because it's impossible to reach that low. I think even modern Intel mobile CPUs the minimum is 800MHz because they can just make the CPU go to sleep instead.

So some form of thermal or power protection is kicking in for your laptop. In that case the minimum clock speed is Zero.

Hard to diagnose that on a forum, but I'll throw a guess in there. Power plan messed up and kicking it to sleep sometimes? Change it to performance and see if it makes a difference?

Unless it kicks it that low while you are trying to do something, who cares ? Itsx will save heat and battery on the laptop. You did not say you were doing anything.
