ive been looking at a new motheborad and precessor but im on a very low budget

i was looking at the sempron because i only have 200 USD

and i was considering the amd sempron but before i make a mistake i would
like an opinion an information

if any one can tell how well these things ever clock it would be greatly aprreciated

I was messing around with a 2200+ (1.5ghz) Sempron and was able to get it to a 235mhz fsb before the memory wouldn't go anymore. And that will still on the DEFAULT voltage. I would have loved to see exactly how far it would go, but didn't have the memory to let me. So, it made it to about 2.2ghz at default voltage. Not to shabby for a $50-$60 cpu. 🙂

Plus, I have a few mobo's if you don't want to have to pay for a brand new one. I have nForce2 and KT333 boards. ECS branded. The nForce2 is brand new. The KT333 is used. PM me if interested. 🙂

If you have $200 for a processor and motherboard you can get a pretty decent system. If you're on a tight budget I'd recommend:

AMD Sempron 2200+
ASRock K7Upgrade-880

If you get a motherboard with VIA or SiS chipset you can unlock the multiplier on that Sempron. You can't unlock it on nForce2 motherboards.

Well, they are technically Athlon XP 1700+ Thoroughbred-B cores. So they should do about the same or better. So how well a overclocker was a the Athlon XP?
