Ok, I need to build another machine, specifically an analy protected fileserver to back up all the data off mine and my gf's comps. My budget is about $100 max (don't need keyboard/mouse/monitor since I'll be using a KVM), meaning I'll most likely be getting all used parts. I already have a case, PSU, and CD-ROM. So basically I need:
Motherboard, CPU, hard drive, RAM, and video/LAN (integrated would be fine).
My question is this: what's the lowest machine that will run WinXP Pro SP2 decently? There will also be a software firewall and AV running concurrently. One of the comps I built for my mom was my old Duron 600@750 with 384mb PC133 on an Abit KT7, and that seems to run WinXP ok.
EDIT: HDD shouldn't be factored in the cost; I'll be using a large capacity (expensive) drive. However, the other hardware should have no problems with 250GB+ drives (I might invest in a Seagate 400GB).
