What's the longest time you've ever been on hold?

I've been on hold for 45 minutes now. Stupid Bally Total Fitness membership. You can't cancel by going into the gym or calling the gym, you have to call this special number: 562-484-2980. I'm at work so I'm calling on 3 different lines (putting each one on hold while checking the other occasionally), and I've been on hold for almost an hour now. Do you think anyone's ever going to pick up?? I have to cancel today otherwise they'll charge me a buttload of fees. UGH.

When I was a Sprint PCS customer I had to wait an hour on hold on a number of occasions. I almost couldn't believe it when I switched to Verizon, who always seem so help me within a minute or so.

Cool, do you have a link to that by any chance? I'll print it out, bring it to the gym tomorrow and give them hell if they don't cancel my membership sans $$$$$$$$$$ fees.

Hours and hours with Verizon DSL.

I would call, go through the touch tone jungle, go out and eat dinner and still be on hold. I am not joking either.

Then I would get a level 1 tech who would make me go through all the stupid stuff like "cycling the power" or else they wouldn't help me with THEIR DSL problem.

Needless to say, I dumped Verizon DSL as soon as RoadRunner came into my neighborhood and will never go back.

Still on hold... I'm thinking about just leaving the phone off the hook overnight, and seeing if anyone picks up by tomorrow. I want to go home, it's already 6:34pm... :(

The bank I have my car payment with has a cutoff of 5 hours. If you don't get through in 5 hours you have to try again. I had to call in last month because they processed my check for too small an amount and I found out it'll cut you off after 5 hours on hold. :(

Why not call them from a phone that will leave some sort of paper record for you.... maybe a cell phone that shows what minutes you used? Then, you'd have proof that you were on the phone for 3 or 4 hours waiting for them.

Back when I worked in the pharmacy, I had to call evil insurance companies that were trying to screw over their members by farking up their drug coverage. The hold times were usually between 30 and 60 minutes. Sometimes they were over 90 minutes. It was horrible. I hate insurance companies.

When I used to do tech support on overnights, I fell asleep on calls for over an hour sometimes, now and then people would actually stay on the line! One time (I think only once) I actually took the call at that point instead of hanging up on them...

hahahahahahahahahahahaa

no joke, serious

Nothing is worse than a seemingly eternal hold time then finally, by some miracle, reaching a live human and getting disconnected either by a technical error or some lazy bastard who wants to go on break. :disgust:

I have had that happen several times and by the time you reach somebody you are really pissed.

I've had credit card companies use a similar tactic on me when I called to cancel. They didn't have a special number for it, but they left me on hold for ages I'm assuming in the hope that I'd give up and keep the card. Disgusting behavior if you ask me.

that stinks, but not the longest, I was on hold for over 2 hours when a linksys AP+router was giving me problems, thats when I went out and bought a headset for my phone so I could just do something else while I was on hold.
