3 days, finals week.

Shens to your one week. You claim you didn't have mental problems until after the 5th day? No way.

Hallucinations started during the 3rd day. To this day, I remember them. I didn't know I was hallucinating and was absolutely fascinated by those hallucinations.

It's very possible with amphetamines. I had a friend who was badly addicted to speed that would routinely stay up for 1-2 weeks at a time. It takes its toll though. Over the course of 18 months he dropped 50 lbs. (from 180 to 130) and went more or less insane. I broke off contact with him at that point.

I haven't slept for a week... because that would be too long :p

In all seriousness, all you people calling shens are wrong. It is well within the realm of possibility to go a week or longer without sleeping. Highly inadvisable, however.

I thought after 72 hours of no sleep some bad stuff (chemical balances, etc) could happen in your brain and change your personality forever..

There have been studies of people completely and permanently changing from staying up too long.

it was a week before finals, i had 7 papers due (about 150 pages) and i had 7 final exams. i had procrastinated all quarter, all i did for 2 weeks straight, no sleep, was study and work on those papers. during the second week, i'd go in to take my finals, the lady that worked at the department chairs office would ask me, how you doing and i'd say x days without sleep and going strong.

i finished that quarter with all B's. :(

i know none of you will believe it, but it was true. i have no way of course of documenting it.

BS nothing you wrote would have been passing or made sense after 3-4 days of no sleep, and you wouldnt have been able to pass the tests.... Really man, I believe you could have taken a handful of 15 minute naps during that time, and gone with ALMOST no sleep, but not no sleep period... for 14 days

oh, btw, grats on breaking the world record :disgust: by... 70+hrs

longest for me is abot 40 hours. Caffiene just puts me to sleep if I have to much of it so after 40 I just can't make it anymore. Funny thing is I never did an all-nighter for classes, all of mine where for movie premiers and such :)

Slightly OT...
Many people have spent several days on roller coaster marathons.
In 2000, a 44 year old named Richard Rodriguez spent 2000 hours (yep, almost 3 months) on a coaster - the Big Dipper. They are allowed short breaks (usually 5min every hour I think), but many people take small naps while the ride is in motion. I can't imagine, considering a bird singing outside can keep me awake.

About 50 hours. I even got a little drunk at around the 45 hour mark. I probably could have lasted another 5-10 hours, but I had no reason to stay up any longer.

About 3 days then I start going gaga. The whole things crawling on my skin, seeing things out of the corner of my eye, little body ticks... I think that's what it would feel like to go insane.
