What's the limiting factor in Netflix's view now option?

The reason why I ask is because there seems to be no real pattern to it. Some big movies are available, some hardly heard of ones, then there are new releases and old. They aren't even by popularity as a few foriegn films are availble, but then many current titles are not.

Anyone know why this is?

Probably not enough bandwidth/infrastructure to put too many very popular movies up there.

I always just figured they just put only B-rate movies on the watch now. Honestly, it's almost like it's just a gimmick feature, like adding a small pair of scissors and then an even smaller pair of scissors to a swiss army knife just so they can make the damn thing fatter and claim it has more tools. Instant on was a nifty feature for maybe half a day when it was released but the poor implementation selection has remained stagnant since and all they add are crappy TV licensed movies and/or old movies. It's no small amazement that the majority of the movies on instant on (probably 80%+) are two star or below - they just throw a few recent 5 stars in every now and then to mix it up.

Basically, I came, I saw, I moved on to Hulu + Playon and kept the Netflix sub movies coming via the queue like it's intended.

Do they have skinmax films from the late 90's? Those were the best.

Don't quote me on this because I genuinely haven't looked, but I don't believe Netflix carries adult films.

On a related note I find this realization to be a travesty.

It basically comes down to what movie and TV studios are willing to license to Netflix. They aren't going to give them brand-spanking new releases. That would kill the DVD sales, the rental sales, the sales through iTunes/Xbox 360/PS3, PPV sales, movie channel sales, etc.

View Instantly is still in its infancy and Netflix is losing money on it. So they can't necessarily go around throwing money on it.

Netflix has gotten better since they added Starz though. If you think it was bad now, you should have seen it before.
