what's the likelihood of 360 prices lowering at some point in the near future?

near future being within the next 3-4 months... I'm on the verge of buying one, having been convinced by my brother-in-law that it's worth it rather than spending $100ish on a roku, but I never keep up with all the price rumors and stuff and would hate to end up spending $300 on one an hour before MS planned on price dropping or something.

update: thanks for all the replies! went ahead and box my xbox yesterday w/ dell (20% off coupon ftw) along with Fable 2, Fallout 3, and Eternal Sonata.

You can get one for $200 now. I don't forsee another price drop.

Edit: Maybe MS will drop the price again if Sony ever drops the price of the PS3.

buy.com had 20GB Premium refurbs for $130 shipped the on Friday. I know refurbs get a bad rep but it's worth a look, especially if it comes with any sort of warranty. Look in the hot deals section.

Or you can do a new Arcade from Dell for around $155-$160 depending on the deal.

(w/ 20% off coupon... it's not the bundle that includes 2 games, but I've got no interest in playing kung-fu panda anyways)

There won't be another 360 price drop until after Sony drops the price of the PS3. Sony is resistant to doing that anytime soon so...

If MS drops the price of the 360 again without Sony making a move, it wouldn't be until later in the fall.

i was actually thinking of picking one up, since all my friends have 360's, and the deal was 130 for a refurb.

Quick question though, if i picked up a refurb with 20gb hard drive, do the newer 360 games require installs on the hard drive or is it just optional?

Maybe when the Vahalla chipset is introduced, but there's no reason for them to drop the price now.

Yea like others have said, PS3 hasn't lowered their price so Microsoft doesn't need to. They're already cheap enough compared to their competition.

the prices are already rock bottom. I don't see how it can possibly be too expensive as it is already the cheapest of the three consoles, and in some cases, by alot.

I think the next drop will either be in mid-summer or at the end of the year. I definitely don't think there's a chance of anything until July. As others have pointed out, any 360 price cut will probably be in response to a PS3 price drop.

The prices are already pretty low, so I don't imagine they will drop the prices any time soon. They will probably reduce the prices when they create a new and cheaper chipset that can reduce manufacturing costs.

The only reason they would drop the prices before then is in response to a PS3 and/or Wii price drop. Sony is being pig-headed and refusing to drop their price, and Nintendo has no reason to drop the price on the Wii since it's still printing money.

So basically: no time soon. You might see some deals around the holiday shopping season toward the end of the year, but that will be it.

I wouldn't expect one till next year sometime. I'd say Sony will drop the price on the PS3 by the end of the year, even then I don't think MS will drop the price.
