I don't really know... We never took my temperature. Add that to your freaking poll. (Never had temperature taken)

That explains the brain damage. It was probably boiling, what a shame.

Troll man, trolls! Shocking.

I thought you were going to block me!? :Q

I = sick

It was crazy...they had me wrapped in these cooling blankets that had cold water or something running through them, and box fans blowing on me. When I was awake, I remember absolutely freezing my balls off...Guess it was worth it though. I actually damaged the cartilage in my jaw shivering and still have problems with it today.

Back in elementary school a friend had a 104 and the school wouldn't let him go home since the only way was to walk for him. :/

My mom freaked out when I told her my temp was 104, I actually thought it was 104.5...can't remember it's been almost 20 years since then.

For an adult:
102 - yeah, you got a strong fever...get on the tylenol and stay on it, rest/fluids
103 - pretty high fever, stay on the tylenol and cold compress to neck or forehead may help, bedridden/fluid, monitor it every hour and watch for dehydration
104 - danger, especially if treatment isn't working. There's a reason the fever is so high regardless of treatment and that needs to be found out.
Above that get to the ER.

This is only from memory and not meant to serve as self treatment in absence of a real doctor or nurse advice.

I've been at 105 a few times when I was younger because I was prone to high fever. I don't think I've been that high in a long time.

After googling around it seems this is pretty true given oral thermometer readings. Need poll to see if fever was measured orally or rectally. Rectally apparently reads about 1 degree above oral and is more accurate.

104ish when I was 10. I wasn't feeling all that well to begin with, and then I had to walk down the street to my house from my babysitter's house in the cold rain. It was only 6 houses down, but I remember it feeling like forever. Anyway, I got home and told my mom. She became quite worried when she saw the reading on the thermometer. It came down to a not so dangerous level by dinner so everything worked out well in the end.

I had a "fever of unknown origin" about 9 years ago. Woke up at 8am and felt like crap. Tried to make it to the phone to call the doctor, and passed out 3 times going to the phone and twice making it to the couch. The entire trip to the phone/making the appointment/walking to the couch took about 2 hours. That is the only time I've ever passed out (non-alcohol related that is). I woke up at 2pm, feeling much better but went to the 3pm appointment. The nurse measured my temperature at 104 and put me on tylenol, fluids, and an ice pack. They released me when it was back down to 102. I have no idea what caused the fever, and no idea how high it got that morning.

I remember seeing purple/yellow spots for several weeks afterwards, mostly only noticeable on white backgrounds.

I woke up one night when I was 13 and had been sick earlier, and i was drenched with sweat, and I had the 'giggles'....My mom was up and took my temperature...105.9 She thought the thermometer was broken so she took my temperature with another one....105.9 She ascribes to the 'fevers are the way to kill the shit that's making you sick' school of thought, but she knew that was too high so she soaked some wash clothes in freezing cold water and put them on my head and chest until I was down to about 103.

Edit: I should also note that my body temperature usually is around 97.3 not 98.6, so that 105.9 was about 8.6 degrees above normal.

I had Rheumatic fever when I was young and when the nurse took my temperature it went so high so quick she snatched me off the table and they threw me in a tub of ice water... I think they mentioned 106 and yes I was close to dying but I can remember that nurse throwing my azz in that ice water like it was yesterday......

I have a heart murmur that they say was a result of that sickness....

Had I seen the "Its over 9000" option I would have voted that instead of my serious answer...

I got bit by a Black Widow when I was 19 and it was up in the 100/101F range all night. Thought it was just a fever until I saw the bite mark along with the red vein going up my leg in the morning,

103, that I know of. That was at age 26...damn, it hurts when you're an adult.

My son (3 at the time) had one of 105 last December. Took him to the hospital for that one.

I hit 105 when I was 13 IIRC. I was lying on the couch under about 5 blankets and still cold, my dad took my temp again and took me to the hospital. Turned out I had pneumonia - but I wasn't coughing.
