Within 24 straight hours, I played 7 games of ice hockey for a charity. I don't know how far that really is, but my legs were rubber the next day.

I bet. Would be interesting to calculate I guess.

How did it work for charity? Ticket sales or something else?

For the Cycling merit badge back when I was in Boy Scouts, we had to do 6 25-mile bike rides and a 50-mile ride, so the 50 was the longest distance I've ever traveled under my own power. We did a pretty leisurely pace, taking about 6 hours or so to do it, including a few stops for water and around an hour for lunch. It had to be completed in 8 hours and we were well under that limit.

I think the hike up to half dome and back is the farthest i have ever gone in 1 day. Thats like 17 miles(28k) half of it being steep uphill and i was wearing my damn sneakers.

I bet that was awesome! How big of a group?

Around 8 people...FABULOUS trip. Got quite cold even in the summer at high altitude, and bengay was a must. I would defintiley recommend extended camping trips to anyone, especially ones that require nomadic tendencies in regards to campsites.

Back when I was in middle school, me and my friends used to go on all day mountain biking adventures. We'd leave really early in the morning at 9, and wouldn't get back till 7-8 at night when it got dark. I'm sure during a few of those we broke 100 miles.

I've done a couple 14 mile long runs.
I've done a 20k race (12.4 miles)
I've biked 50 miles in single day.
Hiked 20 miles in single day.

9am isn't really early. Did you even have to set an alarm to leave?

I'm just jealous. I bet those were some great adventures. Whereabouts did you live? Feel free to share other info... that assumes statute of limitations has passed. ;)

I've done 75 in a day on my bike a couple of times. I'd be lucky to do 5 now though.

well if multiple DAY trips count I voted wrong:p

I think the farthest I've walked at one go is in the 25-30 mile range. That was tiring.

we paid $200 each to play. There were 4 teams and about 10-12 players per team so not bad for 1 day's income for the charity. The rink donated the ice time which is always expensive too. Just a rink in suburban PA so I don't think ticket sales would've been much.. ;)

does hitchiking,and walking count?

I left home when I was 16,and thought I knew everything.

Walked/hitchiked about 1600 miles.

I know I walked at least 70 miles of that.
It took me 2 1/2 days.

Otherwise,Boy Scout hike,15 miles,no trail,compass and map.
I led the Troop I was in,and we were the 2nd group to show up,the guys in first beat
us by 2 mins.

Oh they weighed our backpacks,I had the heaviest one,at 58 lbs.

{Dinty Moore for all the guys with me for supper,LOL;and Real spoons} ;)

Heh, well that's when everyone was finally awake and ready to go. We would probably get up at 6-7AM, and that's pretty early when your mom lets you sleep until 11AM. We'd start collecting everyone from their houses, goof off a bit, go around town and get sandwiches from our deli, ride to the state park trail which was about 15 minutes away from our houses and take off.

We did everything on those trips, ranging from fishing (complete with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tackle box), going to the beach, swinging from this crazy tire swing that was suspended from a tree and jumping off into the sand pit below, to all sorts of stuff. It really was a lot of fun.

Middle school was great because you didn't worry about a damn thing, and you had all the free time in the world.

I mountain biked to Canada once from Johnson, Vermont one day. I think it was about 75 miles roundtrip or something like that? That was probably my longest trip under my own power, can't really brag about it to my wife because she has hike the entire appalachian trail one Summer.

Hrmm...I did a couple hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail (about 20-25 miles a day)

I also went to Philmont Scout Ranch...don't remember what the total milage backpacked was but we averaged 15-20 miles a day.
