What's the funniest book you've read?

I don't remember the last time I read a book that made me laugh. I think the last one I read was Catch-22. What are some books that might get a laugh out of me. Keep in mind that I am a serious person.

Hitchhiker's Guide is a bit dated but still funny.

Bored of the Rings is worthy.

Ananthem has a few really good lines.

Several of the Hichhikers books had me laughing good.
I also got a lot of entertainment out of Zombie Survival Guide, America: the Book, I am America & So Can You, and Earth: The book. (but then again I find Daily Show and Colbert Report funny usually, so it makes sense)

By Patrick McManus:
A Fine and Pleasant Misery
They Shoot Canoes, Don't They?
Never Sniff a Gift Fish
The Grasshopper Trap

Haven't read his other ones but I have to imagine they are all just as funny.

EDIT: These are geared towards the outdoorsy type, so probably not for you, Arcadio.

Just not many comedy books out there.

"Shit my dad says" by Justin Halpern was pretty decent. Was a quick read

A lot of the Discworld books are really good. And Good Omens. That thing is a work of genius.

I didn't find bored of the rings that good to be honest. And the Hitchhiker's Guide was initially good, but by the middle of the 2nd book it started getting really old.

The bible, best fiction book ever.
even read as a fiction novel, the bible is fucking boring.

I took "The Bible as Literature" during college (I was a Lit major) and it was a struggle to get through.

(funnily enough, the class was taught by an atheist professor)

A Confederacy of Dunces.

Although as you are a self proclaimed serious person I wonder why you want funny books and whether you would enjoy them.

The red Dwarf novels are pretty good. The Taxi Hopper scene at the begining of Infinty Welcomes Careful Drivers is friggen hilarious.

I can't read books. I'll try and i'll put them down after a chapter. But the Red Dwarf Books I read cover to cover in one sitting.

Breakfast of Champions -Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
Still Life with Woodpecker -Tom Robbins
Snow Crash -Neal Stephenson
Pulp -Charles Bukowski
