What's the formula for overclocking?

I will be overclocking for the first time so please help me out. This will be on a Duron 600 with an A7V. I know that the three adjustments to make are FSB, multiplier, and voltage. In what order should I make the adjustments and at what increments?

In my opinion, this is what you should do:

1. Make sure that you have a decent HSF and that your CPU has been properly unlocked.

2. Turn off jumperfree mode, since from my experience it leads to some weird issues when trying to OC.

3. Up the voltage to 1.85v, see if it POSTs. (make sure you keep track of the temps. watch out for anything above 50-55C)

4. Up the multiplier in 0.5 increments. (ie next step should be 6.5X100=650MHz). Do this until you can't boot anymore, then set to the last one you could boot at.

5. Up the FSB if you want.

If you find that some multipliers are missing, or that you can get farther with FSB OCing than multiplier OCing, then chances are that the bridges are not connected well enough.

Paulip,
There is a new and improved 1005 bios for the A7V, it's Asus approved according to the folks at Athlon MB.(although not available for download on the Asus site) Have you, or anyone else tried this version? I have tried the others, including the beta for this one, and the Jumperless mode never worked right. Thanks

Edit- typo

the only thing i would suggest is to make the voltage increase last, see how far you can go with standard voltage before you start upping it.

Gary: From what I've heard, the BIOS multi adjustment will only work for rev 1.04 A7V's. Don't know if that is true(and hoping it's not, since I have rev 1.01), but that's what I heard.
