110 in a dodge daytona at about 2 in the morning with empty roads...if only i lived in Germany with teh autobon (?) or whatever it is....i'd go much faster
Like 90 on my 2K2 Passat... I'm the type of driver that zooms thru traffic, but I dont drive that fast. The Passat has an overall average speed counter, it says 29mph LOL
was passing traffic on the turnpike near me. Lucky for me I had the laptop hooked to the car to monitor the cars computer. My speedo only goes to 85 so turbolink on the laptop helps me get the higher speeds recorded. Well anyway was a holiday weekend and traffic heading out of the state was heavy (live in New Hampshire, everyone lives here friday night till sunday afternoon in the summer and winter for some reason) I can see no trafic in the northbound lane for about 3 miles (not a divided highway!) so I pull in the north bound lane and stomp on it. Turbo kick in big time and down shifts 2 gears. 17 psi of boooost and rpms are climbing, 2 cars, 5, 9, 14, 25, speedo has been burried for quite a while I'm in 4th and rpm's are close to 4500 with the torque converter locked and I see traffic in the northbound lane now so I hit the brake and try to get back in the south bound lane. No the only problem with this car as I find out is that the Brakes aren't any better than the plain jane versions. So my pads are melting and it doesn't feel like I'm going to make it. Finally with about 4 car lenghts between me and the north bound car I finally slow enough to get between 2 cars in the south bound lane. We'll I'm shaking all the way home, No way in hell I'm ever going to do that again!!! fogot all about the laptop till the next day. Played back my whole passing section and top speed was 146 and the whole event took just under 20sec!!!
Now the car is faster but I still need to work on the brakes. I'd love to do what my friend did to his brakes baer brakes
