The ASUS site says P4-3.06 GHz (533 FSB, L2 cache:512KB, HT) 1.03 1008 With IAA version 2.2.2 or later.

What is IAA? Have no idea if I have version 2.2.2

I have 2.2g now. will 2.8 make things just a tiny bit faster (20%) or noticably?

Stock i'm pretty sure the maximum you can run is a P4 3.06. What you could try and do (and i'm not sure it exists) is find the highest P4 with a 400mhz FSB and try and overclock it using the 533 fsb. (Although again i'm not sure it's possible to find a P4A and when using a 533fsb beat a 3.06)

So going from 2.2g to 2.8 seems like it's not worth $200

I'm assuming that's very little difference overall...

So is 2.2 -> 3.06 a large change? Speed changes are linear and not logarithmic, right?

So about a third faster?

I have a P4T 533C and 3.06 is the top chip you can use. I went from a 2.2 to 3.06 a year and a half or so ago and I was pleased with the bump. I still use it today with no problems with any game or app.

IAA refers to Intel Application Accelerator. It is the chipset driver for the motherboard.
