What's the fastest 100mhz FSB Pentium III that Intel made?

poplular belief is that the fastest was a 850..... but towards the end they also released a 1Ghz 100mhz FSB P3 as well..... i have no idea why they didn't release the 900 and 950 variety?
 
Off hand I don't know, but I know that the newest ghz Celerons run on a 100 mhz bus and are very decent performance/price if you're simply looking to upgrade.
 
Ya, I never did find that 100MHz FSB 1GHz P3 for sale for an old BX Gigabyte board so I just figured it was a myth and discounted its existance.
 
Yep, here's Intels info on the 1100MHz P3 with a 100MHz FSB. It's even a Coppermine!

There was a 100mhz 900 pIII I'm sure, pretty sure on the 950mhz pIII too. That 1.1 is new to me, do the multipliers go up that far? Or does it do that double thing, where 2x = 6x, 3x = 7x etc... with a bios update?

 
Well I'll be.... 1.1GHz 100MHz FSB P3... that's news to me!! More so than the end of the Duron line being in sight (I never did understand that line and yes I know they were competing with Celerons... but if you're going to spend sub $100 on a duron just get a similar or slightly lower clocked Athlon or XP for an extra $15 or so - it'll eat that celery for all 3 meals of the day and as a snack! Example: 1.3GHz for $63 or XP 1600 for $80 or Athlon 1.33GHz for $72 ? Where's the savings? Price/performance wise this small investment can't be better spent elsewhere. That extra cache is so much more useful IMHO even if you lost some MHz... And I wouldn't bother with any Duron 1GHz and under since you'd be spending more for a HS/F and S&H than on the CPU itself).
 
As above, there are 1.1GHz Coppermine PIII's on a 100MHz FSB.
They also have 1GHz, 900MHz, iterations... as well as many below that.
 
You could just unlock a lowly 750 that would probably do 1000+...

There was an article around that detailed the procedure to unlock Intel CPU's using commonly available garden tools as I recall.

Whats the maximum multipier on your motherboard... if it is one of the last it prolly is 12x I would get me a 1.2 celeron (PIII)
assuming your mobo will do coppermines 69.00 on pricewatch. do the mod to turn make the tullie work on your board. looks like a pretty straight forward mod.

edit dont know what all the space is about ?























































































































































































 

check out those 1.0 flip chips, the older steps were 1.7V and the newer are 1.75V
drove me crazy one time, kept getting bios errors.
i've put a lot of those slot one in BX mobo
