I usually keep it pretty close range, but I've surprised myself a few times for sure. Didn't know I could hit something that far away.

I did the shot put in high school during gym class once, it went like 50 feet or so. I was swimming 6K yards daily and lifting 3 times per week at the time, so had a bit up upper body strength back then.


At the indoor pistol ranges I have been to, the maximum distance they do is usually 25 yards, which I have tried, but, my aim not so good with revolver at 25 yards, so usually I shoot at 10-15 yards.
 
Fired a new rifle where the sights were completely off.

I'm pretty certain that first shot went over the berm; not sure where it landed, but it was probably well over a mile away.
 
As a Gunners Mate in the Navy, probably 10 miles 😵

That's with a 127mm (5"), 392,000 grain (56 lbs) projectile. Times 2 🙂
