what's the easiest way to back up my files?

This is can also go to 'operating system,' but I software can do too.

So I have 2 computers right now, connected via a wireless network in my home.

The secondary computer is now downloading windows 7 beta. Once it is played with and seems good to go, I might want to install windows 7 on my primary computer also.

Good news is that my secondary computer has absolutely nothing in there that I can't afford to lose, so I"m pretty much just installing over it.

My primary system however has tons of stuff I would want to save. If I want to back up everything on my primary computer, besides going and looking for each program and folder, and backing it on my secondary computer, is there an easier way?

Is there some sort of backup program that will automatically find "everything" besides operating system stuff and just put it in one folder for me?

basically, I want to back up my stuff, what is the easiest and fastest way?

I use Nero BackItUp. Not the easiest to use, but especially the restore features are very nice.

I also have a full drive image via Acronis.

Spend the $20-40 to get Nero or Acronis.

Backup the system onto an external drive.

Try Microsoft's SyncToy. It does not back up the registry, but it works great for backing up documents. And best of all, its free!

I use it to back up to a network hard drive nightly. SyncToy has several options, but the one I use is to mirror the changes on my local hard drive. SyncToy then compares the local and remote and does the bare minimum to make the remote a mirror of the local. That saves time.

This is what I use.

In addition to the backup of the documents folder, I keep a directory with all the installers I used to set up the machine that gets backed up with synctoy as well.
