What's the difference in cores?

I've noticed as I've been poking around the forums that most of the processor cores are named after cities. Is there a reason for this? The processor I'm getting has a Toledo core. Truth be told I picked it because Toledo, Ohio is close to where I live. Is there any difference between cores? Is one "city" better than another?

LOL!! Cleveland is near me too, but the two processors I was deciding between had a Toledo core (the one I'm getting) and I think a San Fransico core, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Manchester = Dual core, 512K cache
Toledo = Dual core, 1MB cache

Venice = Single Core 512K cache
San Diego = Single Core 1MB cache

not really as that i see in many sites that having a larger cache on a AMD don't help that much, the performance of a A64 more processor speed related
