Sorry I was wondering whats the difference between Dual Core processors and Core 2 Duo processors? I'm a newb so take it easy on me🙂

a dual core cpu is one with 2 cores. a Core 2 Duo is just what Intel calls their new dual core cpu. AMD calls their the X2

No, a Core 2 Duo is one of 4 types of dual core processors that Intel has made. It's their latest dual-core, so far.

Core 2 Duo is the latest and there is a HUGE difference when it comes to performance when compared to the previous Core Duo or any other processor for that matter.

I think Intel should have used a new, more unique name for their new processors since most people are easily confused by these common names.

Core 2 Duo is the fastest, most efficient processor to date!

Core 2 Duo is just a name, just like Pentium 4 was. Do no try to attach any special meaning to it. It's a marketing term.

The Duo part does indicate dual-core, while a Core 2 Solo (if such a thing existed) and a Core 2 Quad indicate single and quad-core. Core 2 is indeed Intel's best architecture to date (usually newer architectures ARE better than those they replace but there are some notable exceptions, lol) and it is well above even AMD's A64 X2 (about 20% faster per clock).
