What's the difference between Athlon XP and Athlon TBird?

only out of the loop for a minute well in computer time thats a thousand years 😉

There are alot of differences best to look at AMD's site and also search the Forums. Also check out the Anandtech reviews on the XP that should answer all your questions.

Not trying to pass the buck but there are so many changes it wold be hard to post them all.

athlon xp has a slightly cooler running core, and also has hardware prefetch to predict data accesses and move the data to L2 cache. which is a pretty big improvment.

The bottom line is that XP will give you ~0-10% in non SSE enhanced applications. In applications that can take advantage of SSE, more liike 30% is possible. DiVX encoding is sped up quite a bit.
