I've always considered a moon roof to be manually-operated a hinged/removable venting glass panel, and a sunroof to be a motorized glass/metal panel that retracted/vented.

OK, I capitulate. It means whatever the manufacturer wants it to mean.

At any rate, every glass panel roof I've had was called a "moonroof" by the manufacturer. But then, I haven't bought American since 1986... This is why I had that idea.

Sunroofs are fixed. They either go up to provide ventilation or can be taken completely out. A moonroof on the otherhand can also vent by going up, but it can also slide back either manually or powered.

Just to throw in more kinks, my '93 Prelude has a Metal, powered, full slide, "moonroof" according to the pricing, manual, etc.
